This past week with SOLOMON has been the true test of his heeling skills on the gentle leader. On Tuesday, he and I, along with Terry and ADDIE went on our second visit to FPC Alderson. We briefed their Community Relations Board about our program and also had the first briefing for the inmates. Can you believe we had 64 women come! That's more than twice what we expected. We were very excited to have so much interest. We will have to whittle that down throughout processing and interviews, but we can truly say they are excited to have the dog program! SOLOMON did a lovely job heeling at the prison. You could tell how much progress he had made. He was more controlled and focused. Many ladies recognized him from our last visit and stated how much bigger he's getting-he's filling out (NOT getting fat, mind you) and getting his adult body. Can't believe how much he's changed in such a short time. We returned home Wednesday, had dinner with the Swigers on Wednesday night and left again Thursday morning for Wilmington. SOLOMON got to spend a lovely day at the beach playing with LANIE, but had to work again on Friday. Walking on the UNCW campus was a bit harder for SOLOMON. I think primarily because most of his favorite people were there (Terry, Kyria, Candace) and of course LANIE and CAMDEN as well. SOLOMON needed steady reminders to walk nicely despite being excited. SOLOMON and I returned home after our UNCW meeting. He got to spend the night with us (he also spent the night Wednesday) and he played all night and all morning with my older dog, Paco. Paco is about 11 years old, and I can tell you, he hasn't played that much for about six years. They both had the time of their life!
This week is back to a normal schedule. SOLOMON will go to school tomorrow morning, we have a demo on Wednesday evening and will be doing training in between.
