Saturday activities

Today we had a huge shopping trip. This morning we rented an economy car so we could get out and about. It felt so good to have a car again! Freedom! It was Kyria, Jenny and I, and of course our dogs: Chrissy, Sally (Jenny's dog) and Viggo (Kyria's dog)....in the Kia Rio. Interesting mental picture, isn't it?! We made it work (see picture below)-thank you to Jenny for volunteering to sit in the back seat with three panting, drooling, shedding dogs! We went out to the mall and went to Bath and Body, Old Navy, all the usual stores. Everything is made more interesting, though, when you're shopping with dogs. You have to be REALLY aware of what they're doing at all times and also what's happening around them (and you) at all times. Take, for example, the two very young crazy children in the check out line at Old Navy behind us. First, the one girl squealed at the top of her lungs, then her and her sister proceeded to try to bop Viggo in the nose the entire time we were in line. Where was their mom? She was there....unconcerned. You just never know what's going to happen. You have to be vigilant and aware ALL the time. Kyria did a great job of deflecting the kids and keeping Viggo safe-whew!

After the mall we were on a mission to find something to eat. We found a great little greek restaurant that had Cold Stone Creamery right next door-we took a break and took some pictures (they're already posted below!) Afterwards we hit Target and Trader Joe's to stock up. At that point, we were all totally exhausted, so we headed home to rest up and have dinner. (I always know when Chrissy is tired because she'll collapse into a heap at my feet if I stand still for more than 30 seconds.)
After dinner we went to Barnes and Noble to pick up a book I ordered, had some Starbucks, and headed back to the school. We are fairly certain that the dogs are sufficiently worn out- we know we're worn out!

Tomorrow we have plans to visit a state park about 20 miles away that sounds stunningly gorgeous and has redwoods-I'm totally excited to see the redwood trees!! Thank you Heidi for the hiking/park suggestion. (I'm actually going to get Kyria to go on a 4 mile hike with me-yahoo!)

Before closing this post, I have to give BIG props to my wonderful husband, Jason, who suggested I take the Garmin GPS to California with me! We were able to plug it in, find the mall, find the great greek restaurant, Cold Stone Creamery, Target, Trader Joe's, Barnes and Noble....thank you Jason!

Don't forget to scroll down and check out the pictures from our day as well as some pictures Kyria took in class this week. Also, check out Kyria's blog-she'll have different pictures going up soon. (You can check Kyria's blog by looking on the right side of the page and clicking on the link "Kyria's blog".)
