On Tuesday I took SOLOMON to a grocery store called the Home Economist (does it not seem like I'm ALWAYS going to the grocery store?) Anyway, I had to pick up some specialty items so SOLOMON was along for the ride. After the Home Economist, SOLOMON and I met Jason for lunch at Cracker Barrell. Walking through the store front proved to be a bit of a challenge! SOLOMON really wanted to sniff all the clothes and knick-knacks. I didn't realize what great distraction training it would be! After lunch, on the way out the store, SOLOMON proved he was up to the challenge. He walked through the isles with only a half-hearted sniff here and there. After Cracker Barrell we went to Lowes and then SOLOMON had to hang out in my car for an hour so I could see a client. After the client I had two more errands to run and once again our boy was along for the ride. In all locations we practiced approaching and entering the doorway-SOLOMON has a tendancy to want to rush through the doorway. Any heeling he has done up to the door goes out the window as we move through the doorway (especially automatic doors). He is learning that heeling is just as important in the middle of a doorway as before and after the door! Another quirk SOLOMON had when he first arrived was that he woofed at random people in the parking lot, or anyone he could see as he exited the car. Thankfully this has faded away. I think he only gave one tiny woof the whole time he was out with me Tuesday. The next funny quirk to conquer-barking at his own reflection in the TV and glass fire place cover!
